Di Tella University
Education is changing rapidly, therefore flexibility in design is essential.
This idea led us to create two large parallel spaces free of columns and divided by a central space that are linked to student socialization areas alternating on each floor in the form of general meetings and links at the same time of different spatial sensations according to the floor they are on.
Said central space will be the heart of this proposal that runs from the 1st basement to the terrace and illuminated from above.
The building on the ground floor is free of premises that obstruct the view and its visual connection between the university patio and Plaza del Salvador.
This square is designed with a large central floor free of fixed equipment and closed on one side by a long white metal pergola of total austerity, great coverage and maintenance-free where students will be able to carry out various functions throughout the day, such as study, eat or rest under it.
The building configures and defines the urban fronts on Juan Pablo Sáenz Valiente Street and Plaza del Salvadora, while at the same time it shapes the Central Courtyard of the University, respecting the levels and heights of the existing buildings that link them.
We considered adopting for our building the technical-morphological language of the adjacent building with the modifications according to the new needs as required, we adopted the 7.60x7.60m squares, we increased the light between columns on the 1st and 2nd floor, we increased the glazed panels of the 1st to 4th floor to gain greater lighting in the classrooms and workshops. We generated a plant balcony on the lower floors that give the heated patio the pleasure of being surrounded by green, making the Patio healthier.
